The Wonderful World of Web 2.0!
Tech Soup Global describes Web 2.0 as "an emerging set of Internet-based tools and an emerging philosophy on how to use them.”
Web 2.0 refers to the next phase in internet use, development and design and, more importantly, to a shift in how we, as the users of the internet, relate to it and what we want to get out of its tools.
Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services, and applications; such as social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and online communities, known as Folksonomies, that collaboratively tag information and resources.
Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to any new or updated internet capabilities, but rather to changes in the ways software developers (the people who design the tools) and end-users (the people use a product) utilize the Web. Perhaps the most significant change is how the communities that access and use the internet have shifted their perspective in how the web can meet their needs.
